Hi! Let me just tell you that the title is the real name of a real shop I saw today.
This is just an update of what I’ve done in the past 2 days since I’ve been back. Do NOT be fooled by the seemingly short period, cause I’ve done lots of things!
Yesterday was church. Nice old church
After which, my parents and I went to some hotel for some buffet that was actually pretty mediocre. But it scored points for variety, which was precisely what I wanted. It had everything from popiah to prawn mee and even ice kachang and pulot hitam! So it was basically a crash course in Singaporean fare. Always good! Yum!
It was there that I found out how secretly angmoh-fied my mother truly is..
My mother: Ay! I didn’t know they served soft spring rolls here!
My father and I: WT!??!
Mother: There! You see? Soft spring rolls!
And when we turned to look, we realised it was popiah!!And then she told us about how she offered to share her egg jam with her friend in Primary school. And her poor friend was horrified at the prospect of having to eat bottled eggs, only to find out that my mother was just talking about kaya!
Then it was off to play squash with lovely Michelle and Tim in SICC. After which, Michelle and I headed down to Barker to play Captain’s Ball!
Not bad right? 2 sports in 1 day!! I’m actually quite proud of myself.
Today, I hung out with my grandmother (yes, the one responsible for my mother saying things like egg jam) and we cooked yummy fish and chips! And after that, I met Jiemin, Avril and David to laze around at East Coast Park. But of course, me being me, I managed to get lost.
Well, not lost per se, but… misdirected. You see, I was damned stoned, so after I got off the no.28 bus, and was waiting for the no.43 bus, another no.28 bus came along, and I very happily got on it. It was only awhile later that I realised the bus seemed to be going to weird places and I asked the nice Malay woman next to me where the bus was going. This resulted in much horror and embarrassment, because I found out that I had boarded the same freaking bus that I had just gotten off!
Needless to say, I was an hour late in meeting them.
Several hours later (and by that I mean at 9 o’clock!), I went to eat prata at Thompson with Michelle and Kenneth (I’m beginning to think that Michelle is my conveniently detachable Siamese twin). And because we’re damn pig face
and didn’t want to go home, we drove around and saw this damn cute place. And because it was so damn cute, we just had to eat there. The ice cream was just alright, but it doesn’t matter. Because with a name and picture like that, all is forgiven.
And lastly, when I came home, there was this movie on by Woody Allen called Bananas, and I had the honour of watching what could quite possibly be my favourite movie lines of all time
[And now that I have become ruler of this country, I order that]
all citizens be made to change their underwear every half hour.
In addition, all underwear must be worn on the outside…
So we can check!
And thanks Leanne for the nice blog entry
