I recently found out that Andy Warhol made movies. While the prospect of watching a movie made by such a prolific artist seems undoubtedly exciting, somehow I know that I won’t enjoy his brand of films. I kind of envision them to be overtly indie and schizophrenic with little story and a focus on directing and production. Ironically, now I feel compelled to watch them just to know if I’m right. Dammit.
In other film news, I also read (from that same very informative magazine) an interesting take on Woody Allen’s recent 2 films, Scoop and Matchpoint.
Looked at individually, the movies don’t amount to much. About the only thing of interest is Woody Allen’s final departure from his long love affair with New York and the beginnings of a new one with Britain (myopically speaking of course. That is, I’m sure fascinating insights abound in both movies). But put together, they become 2 sides of the same mask. Comedy and tragedy. The story lines in both movies are too similar for coincidence and if you recall Melinda and Melinda you’d realise that this isn’t a new theme for Woody Allen.
This fact didn’t occur to me when I watched the movies, but now that I’ve had it pointed out, it bugs me that I hadn’t realised it.
And this doesn’t really have much to do with anything but over the holidays, I got interested in the little enter key that lies next to the right-side command key on my keyboard. And although I still haven’t quite figured out it’s purpose, I’m quite proud to say that I actually use it now. Possibly almost as much as the big enter key.
Oh. And while I’m talking about keyboards, did you know that the command button on the new very sexy imac keyboards don’t have an apple on it? I actually think that was a bad move. But whatever. On the bright side, it’s finally labelled command. Which makes so much more sense cause all the written keyboard shortcuts always say command and everyone looks desperately at their keyboards and goes “wtf?!?! What the hell is command?!?! Where the hell is command?!?!?!”
Ok. That’s all. I think I’m done now. Have a great weekend!!
