Chocolate chip cookie curse GONE!

My past 4 attempts at chocolate chip cookies were all variations of one thing – disaster. This despite the fact that I had been alternating between a recipe that had never previously failed me and the famous NY Times one.

This most recent attempt, in which I used the NYT recipe, marks number 4. The first time I made this recipe, I put in way too much butter and ended up with chocolate chip cookies that had the look and texture of brandy snaps. This time, I put in too much flour and ended up with puffy dry cookies. It was very disappointing.

However, at 3am last night, I decided the cookie curse was full of shit and that I was going to take matters into my own hands. So I took out the rest of the dough that I was dutifully refrigerating for the prescribed 36 hours (don’t ask me why I was still doing this despite knowing it wasn’t good) and attempted to save it by mixing in some butter and sugar that I had creamed. I wasn’t sure if it would work but, as it turns out, it did and the cookies taste great. I’m so pleased!
